VTB Youth League basketball tournament: Rostov-Don-2 wins second straight title

Rostov-Don-2 claimed back-to-back VTB Youth League titles after beating Parma-Paribet 92-74 in the final at the Basketball Center of the Russian Olympic Committee's National Teams Training Center in Novogorsk on Sunday.

The Rostov girls, who emerged victorious in the inaugural season of the competition in 2021, once again proved to be the team to beat in the youth tournament, remaining unbeaten throughout the season.

Parma-Paribet, featuring a group of talented youngsters led by rising star point guard Olga Frolkina, entered the final with confidence after an impressive run to the final, but they were no match for the Rostov team's experience and depth.

Led by the tournament's Most Valuable Player, Daria Kurasova, who finished the final with an impressive 26 points, Rostov-Don-2 was in control of the game from the start.

Kurasova, a member of Russia's 3x3 national team, showcased an all-around performance, grabbing 8 rebounds and dishing 7 assists to help her team to a comfortable victory.

Although Parma-Paribet made several attempts to come back into the game, they were unable to close the margin against a dominant Rostov team, who played with great energy and determination.

The win marked a remarkable achievement for Rostov-Don-2 coach Stanislav Konyaev, who has guided his team to two consecutive titles in the competition.

Rostov-Don-2's victory is a testament to the growing strength of youth basketball in Russia, which bodes well for the future of the country's national team.
