Massive Earthquake Rocks Central California
Magnitude 7.2 Tremor Causes Widespread Damage
AUSTIN, Calif. – A massive earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 has struck central California, causing widespread damage and injuries. The epicenter of the quake was located near the town of Austin, about 30 miles south of San Jose. The tremor was felt as far away as Sacramento and San Francisco.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake occurred at 10:02 a.m. local time and lasted for approximately 30 seconds. The temblor caused buildings to collapse, roads to buckle, and power lines to snap. There are reports of injuries and fatalities, but the extent of the damage is still being assessed.
